1980s childrens programme?

I am trying to remember the name of this programme so I can look it up on You Tube. I can remember really enjoying it but not much about it except kids having to try and cross a pathway made of hexagons. Below it was CGI empty space and if you stepped on the wrong one you would disappear. It was a bit like a sci fi quiz if I remember correctly - does this ring any bells with anyone? It's one of those half memories from when I was a kid that I would like to see again. Thanks
