How do you find the base area of a hexagon?

So lets say it is aa hexagonal pyramid and i am trying to find the volume. but in order to find the volume i need to have BaseArea X height = volume. correct? so how do you find the base area of a hexagon with sides of 4 inches?? PLEAASE HELPPP. math project :( lol
